Ghana Community Projects
We have been supporting the community of Fievie Dugame in Volta Region, Ghana, partnering with local NGO Kids Foundation Inc. and the Rotary Clubs of Ho (Ghana) and Manchester (UK). We met Joseph Kove, director of Kids Foundation Inc., in 2003, and, with his support, started to understand the needs of the community of Fievie Dugame and, in particular, the issues of education and lack of clean drinking water. In June 2019, with matched funding from The Rotary Foundation and implementation by the Rotary Club of Ho and Kids Foundation Inc., a new clean drinking water supply was commissioned, connecting the community to the mains water supply. We continue to partner with the community, supporting them in their own community projects.
In Accra, we have also been supporting the health and education of individuals living in poverty for many years. One man we supported with vocational training he now runs a successful business, and a number of times now he has said the same thing: “Without your help, I would not be alive. I thought I would be dead by now.”
