Bringing Laughter to Schools
When we laugh with people, we become closer to them, so teaching can be enhanced and bullying reduced.
- Because laughter boosts the immune system, it helps reduce sickness.
- Because it reduces ‘bad’ stress hormones, it helps us focus, behave and learn more effectively.
- Because it releases endorphins and natural antidepressants, it helps us feel happier.
- Because it clears out the lungs and gives us more oxygen, it increases our energy and our creativity.
- Because it is a social tool, it helps build confidence and combats bullying.
We lead our laughter research school projects and school laughter assemblies based on therapeutic laughter and Laughter Yoga.
School Laughter Films
During lockdown, we created a set of short laughter videos (about 2 minutes each), as activities for children of Primary school age.
Primary Schools Laughter Assemblies and Research Project
We have created a research project where year 6 pupils lead Laughter Yoga activities for year 5 pupils, and set questions to investigate for themselves how laughter impacts our lives for the better. It helps with confidence, communicating, and understanding science.
Three booklets have been produced, along with a set of 5 lesson videos (each 12 minutes) to take pupils through the research project.
